Energizing or sleepy?
Sleepy, by the accounts we found. Leafly places Grease Monkey on the calming side of its scale with sleepy among its top three effects, AllBud describes a sedating finish, Seeds Here Now sells the original seeds as a sedative, body-heavy evening strain, and Nirvana Seeds says its version will lock you to the couch.1,2,5,6 None of the sources we opened calls it energizing. A menu item sold as Grease Bucket may be a different strain: Leafly lists energetic, creative and happy as Grease Bucket’s top effects (see genetics).8
Why two batches can feel different
Potency alone varies widely: one in ten lab-tested batches came in under 16.91% THC and one in ten above 28.85%.9 Results differ sharply by market: among states with at least 10 tests, the median ran from 19.88% in Nevada (39 tests) to 27.12% in Maryland (241).9 The plants differ too: published splits run from 50/50 to 70% indica, and High Times found terpene profiles varying from phenotype to phenotype.4,7,10
